Dasein Theatre and Production

Dasein Theatre and Production consider that “to make inquiries” is an unique character and essence of human BEING, and it is the foundation of all our knowledge and culture. We conduct stage productions and drama educational projects that echo our age, aiming to make inquiries about the authentic nature of people and our community and to explore the potential of art and culture. Rather than any preconceived or bias to particular theatrical form and idea, we intend to be an open horizon, in which we will actively working with different theatre players . This relies on our one simple belief: everyone has the need and right to make inquires, and truth could only be revealed by free expressions and multi-representations.

Not The Maids

‘Maid’, ‘Helper’, ‘Foreign Domestic Worker’… Apart from these names, how much do we really understand ‘them’?

Hong Kong has nearly 350,000 foreign domestic workers. On Sundays you can see them in public squares and parks; a street view unique to this city. These ‘maids’ flew from their homes to work in another home. Each week they work for six days performing household chores, taking care of children and the elderly. For one day a week, they are guitarists, photographers, rugby players… themselves.
